A website project goes much more smoothly when a few things are thought through before the first design meeting. You don’t need everything finished — but having answers to these questions will save weeks.
1. What should the website achieve?
More enquiries? Online bookings? Credibility with investors? Pick one or two primary goals. They will shape the structure of every page.
2. Who is it for?
Describe your ideal visitor. What do they already know? What do they worry about? What would make them contact you?
3. Websites you like (and why)
Collect three to five websites you admire — they don’t have to be in your industry. Note what specifically you like: the typography, the calm feeling, the way products are shown.
4. Your content
Gather what you already have: logo files, brand colours, photography, service descriptions and any existing copy. Gaps are fine — it just helps to know where they are.
5. Practical details
- Your domain name and who manages it
- Where the site will be hosted
- Which email address should receive enquiries
- Any deadline that matters, such as a launch or event
Bring these to a consultation and we can turn them into a clear plan together.
